On 4th and 5th June, Indigo organised and managed an event to help people affected by redundancy across Tayside. The event was hosted by Pace (Partnership Action towards Continuing Employment), a Scottish Executive initiative which ensures local public sector agencies deal with potential/proposed large-scale redundancies quickly and effectively. Nearly 850 people attended the event over the 2 days to gain advice and support on planning their next steps after redundancy.

Over 20 employers were present at the event to promote vacancies within their organisations. Employers included Wm Morrison Supermarkets, Aker Kvaerner, Apex Hotels, Norwich Union, GlaxoSmithKline and Dundee Police. There was also a jobs vacancy board for employers who could not attend the event to advertise their vacant positions to potential candidates. In total more than 700 positions were being promoted at the event.

There was a dedicated area for people interested in going into further education or training. Education providers included Dundee, Perth and Angus Colleges and both Dundee and Abertay Universities. Training providers included Pitman Training Scotland, Tayside Health Care Academy and ILA Scotland.

Specialist advice was available from Business Gateway and local entrepreneurs for people interested in starting up their own business. In addition there was also finance and legal support to help those with issues relating to redundancy. A health and relaxation area provided people with the opportunity to get a stress-reducing free massage or reiki session. People were also able to use the free internet café to research career opportunities, apply for jobs or type up their CV. A range of workshops were provided throughout the 2 days giving people practical advice on topics such as CV writing, interview techniques, student finance and motivation.
