In Indigo we acknowledge our social and environmental responsibilities to our staff, clients and the communities in which we operate. We take these responsibilities seriously and aim to incorporate this attitude in our general behaviour, our way of doing business and the services we market and deliver.
Indigo is committed to developing and maintaining a sustainable and environmentally responsible mode of operation, within the context of its fiscal constraints, and responsibilities to clients and staff.
Indigo seeks to develop an ethos of environmental responsibility in all its staff based on a recognition of the need to contribute at local, regional, national and global levels to the sustainable use of natural resources and be cost effective wherever possible.
1.Purpose
The policy statement makes clear to the widest internal and external audience Indigo's recognition of the significance of the environmental challenge for its business and for society and shows how it will engage to meet the various challenges and opportunities.
2. Scope
The policy statement applies to every member of staff. Fulfilment of the policy depends upon each member of staff playing their part as appropriate.
Environmental Programme
To action its environmental responsibility statement, Indigo will seek to apply best practice. We have an established programme of continuous improvement, with particular emphasis on the following:
• Ensuring that all legal requirements are met and where appropriate and possible, exceeded.
• Using energy efficiently in its daily operations.
• Using energy efficient measures in any refurbishment or new building work.
• Reducing the generation of waste through waste minimisation techniques.
• Reusing or recycling wastes where possible.
• Implementing an environmentally sympathetic Purchasing Policy.
We encourage environmental best practice within our projects; we support social enterprise development where environmental issues are part of the triple bottom line.
Responsibilities
• Director, John Tindal, is the sponsor of the group's environmental policy.
• All other Directors report to John on the implementation of the policy and any changes that are required.
All other members of staff are responsible for playing their part in ensuring that the policy is observed.
